Acutally, Heather has her stip-clubs mixed up.

"Showgirls" IS Deja Vu and is at at 1510 1st Ave, directly across from The Crumpet Shop. See info here: http://www.dejavu.com/club.asp?c=15602

The strip-club that Heather notes has "...the best, funniest marquees..." is The Lusty Lady, two blocks south at 1315 First Av and directly across from the Seattle Art Museum (SAM). Info about it can be found at Yelp... And some fun marquees can be found here on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/groups/lustylady/

Good list, gotta love the Crave omelette's, but....

Where's the love for Fremont? Far more entertaining than 45th Street, take the trail back from Ballard and stop off in Fremont, which bills itself as the 'Center of the Universe.' This is the refuge of hippies and hipsters, but it's quickly gentrifying. Get a taste with a wander while things are still there. On Sundays there are street markets and there's also the statue of Lenin. Don't miss the Troll under the Highway 99 bridge up on the hill.

While I'm sure that Seattle city officials would wish that Showgirls would disappear, I really don't mind it-- they have the best, funniest marquees that I always look forward to seeing.

I personally wish that a few other First Avenue establishments like Deja Vu (another strip club that offers no humor from the exterior) and a few of those "smoke shoppes" would disappear.

I lived in Seattle for 5 years and truly the summers are amazing. There is no where in the US that can boast a better summer. Eventually we got driven out be the same drizzly overcast winters that everyone complains about-- but it also didn't help that you couldn't buy a condo for less than half a mil. Great job on this article, it was nice to see some of my favorite old haunts featured.
