Where’s the love for Fremont? Far more entertaining than 45th Street, take the trail back from Ballard and stop off in Fremont, which bills itself as the ‘Center of the Universe.’ This is the refuge of hippies and hipsters, but it’s quickly gentrifying. Get a taste with a wander while things are still there. On Sundays there are street markets and there’s also the statue of Lenin. Don’t miss the Troll under the Highway 99 bridge up on the hill.

I personally wish that a few other First Avenue establishments like Deja Vu (another strip club that offers no humor from the exterior) and a few of those “smoke shoppes” would disappear.
