Good tips. And Dustin's about sleep -- very important. Memories of waking to the local sounds of a Paris neighborhood and the smell of fresh croissants and cafe au lait may be more appreciated than those of stressful see-it-all pressure and bickering colleagues.

Be sure to bring a quality eyemask and earplugs, both for sleeping and for reducing stress on flights. You'll arrive more relaxed and energized.

I always bring protein bars, too, so I can avoid empty candy fixes. And drink plenty of water and juices, not soda, when you can. Hydration isn't just for joggers anymore!

Don't eat yellow snow?

Oh and how about sleep? I see a lot of people cramming attractions in on their trip, hating it and feeling like crap because they've worn themselves down. How about go to bed and get some rest instead of seeing another temple you won't remember anyways?

Oh, and one more I thought of when eating breakfast this morning :)
Try buying some yoghurt and cutting some fruit up in that. It's healthy and it will make a nice breakfast. You can even throw in some nuts or muesli or something like that to make it even better. Be creative ;)

Thanks Tara and Walter, definitely good suggestions there. I know my mother usually orders fruit only on planes, and I know it's entirely sensible, but I can't drag myself away from all those exciting little packages in airline meals, I have a strange fetish for them!

On the topic of fruit: Bying fruit on the streets is very cheap. Always make sure you buy fruits that have to be peeled, so you avoid any health endangering substances on the outside of let's say a peach. Grab a pineapple instead, they have thick skins.

I have found that ordering fruit only meals on planes is a great way to get your fresh fruit quota and you can supplement by bringing along a few healthy snacks rather than falling into the airplane food trap - I know I never feel faublous after eating it.
