Two German students went rogue and, in an effort to support the unpopular and largely discredited theory that the pyramids at Giza are far older than conventional knowledge says they are, vandalized the interior of one of the world’s most treasured landmarks.

The two students from Dresden University subscribe to the theory that the ancient pyramids are tens of thousands of years older than Eygptologists claim and that they were built by a lost civilization that academia has conspired to deny and hide from the world.

The pair gained access to the interior of the great pyramid and scraped off portions of an ancient cartouche without authorization. This damage has sparked outrage among Egyptian authorities and the archaeological community, and has led to the students’ names being added to an airport watch list that will prevent them from ever entering Egypt again.
