Way back when I was first on the road I thought it was wonderful that email existed but I ended up with unwieldy mass email lists that were so hard to keep control of ... so using a blog is a thousand times easier, I think. It's a cool community of travlers as well so you end up getting a lot of great comments and advice on your blog. Their blog format is clean and your friends can subscribe to your blog and get alerts when you update it. Saves me from mass emailing everybody.
