I got stuck for 3 days at the end of my holiday last week and count myself lucky, there were people in our hotel that had been stuck for over a week and some still there when we got the call to leave.

Thankfully our tour operator (Thomas Cook Signature) paid for the extra nights and a bus trip from Bangkok to Phuket.

I recieved a letter yesterday from thomas cook offering me councelling in case i was traumatised by the events. I'm sure there are people out there who have had a terrible time of it, especially those who's luggage got stuck at the airport and got no help from their tour operator.

I've been hearing a lot of figures, the highest being 300,000 people stranded. This was written a few days ago, so perhaps initial reports (as quoted by AP) were lower than the actual statistic.

Thanks for reading!

I saw figures that it was 200,000 people stranded. At least now the protest has ended. Who knows though for how long.

I made it out of Thailand 4 days before the airports closed and I consider myself lucky.

People I know that got stuck there and have gotten out in the last few days have vowed to never return. Big blow to Thailand and big blow to the region as Thailand's airport is the hub for SE Asia.
