Traveling to Manila? An Important Tip for Would-Be Fugitives

This is just too good. A great tip for any potential fugitives among my readership who are planning to travel to Manila. Via Reuters:

Philippine police chased down an unfit thief on Tuesday after he ran out of breath and asked his pursuers for a “time out.”

“He was panting and gasping for air when we caught up with him after a 500 meter sprint,” Erwin Buenceso, one of the arresting officers, told local radio station dzBB.

The robber asked for a “time out” using hand signals.

I actually laughed out loud when I read that. I wonder if he was carrying the stolen property in his Transformers Trapper Keeper and running from the cops only because he was scared they were trying to snatch his lunch money. We’ve got plenty of stupid criminals here in the States, but asking the cops for a “time out”? That takes balls.

The kicker:

After he regained his composure, police seized the two stolen phones and brought him to a station for questioning.

They actually allowed him to “[regain] his composure”? So they granted him the timeout. That’s priceless!
