It works to draw attention to just about every product and service known to mankind, so why not use it to jazz up those boring airline safety videos on board, huh? Delta Airline’s new safety video is causing a buzz because of its Angelina Jolie look-alike presenter - sexy stewardess Katherine Lee.
The airline has found Lee’s sparkling blue eyes, high cheekbones and Angelina-esque mouth to be a real winning combination. So popular has the safety video become thanks to YouTube that she’s been nicknamed “Deltalina”, and has become a mini-celeb of sorts.
The new video was created to get waning passenger interest back to the Federal Aviation Administration safety instructions that are mandatory on all flights. It’s not just Lee’s beauty and appealing demeanor that’s causing the buzz – the usual “no smoking on the flight” line has her playfully wagging her finger at the camera as she says, “Smoking is not allowed on any Delta flight.”
Most passenger safety experts believe the video could inject new enthusiasm, especially in jaded frequent flyers, who tend to tune out as soon as the instructions begin. The airline received a number of applicants, whittling them down to ten before, settling for Deltalina … er … Katherine.
