You may want to rethink your travel plans if you were headed to Italy to enjoy the Brunello di Montalcino from the Case Basse vineyard in Tuscany. In a bizarre incident, vandals broke into the estate and sent 62,600 liters of the wine — which had taken six years to make and costs 110 Euros a bottle — down the drain.

It’s a baffling turn of events and the vintners are struggling to understand what the motive behind it might have been. No threats were made and no one has come forward to claim responsibility.
