Who knew brothels still existed–in Austin, Texas?

Recently, the former Midnight Cowboy brothel was purchased and reopened as a speakeasy-style bar. The Sixth Street bar is unmarked and unnamed, with just a single red light at the front door.

Classic cocktails are offered, in addition to specialty drinks mixed by top-notch bartenders. But getting a seat isn’t so easy and requires planning ahead of time–

Reservations must be made in advance online, and the website lists a number that gives further instructions for entering by ringing a doorbell labeled “Harry Craddock” ”” named after the Prohibition-era mixologist who fled the States to bar-tend at London’s Savoy Hotel.
