Those who think that self-flagellation is for the weak of heart, or that Buzkashi makes for a relaxing Sunday afternoon can now head to China for the world “bee bearding” championship.

From Mother Nature Network:

In 1998, American animal trainer Mark Biancaniello established the current world record for the “most pounds of bees worn on the body” with 87 pounds.

Yes. 87 pounds. Of bees. That’s more like a full body bee bath than a bee beard. This year’s winner, Wang Dalin, could only manage a measly 59 pounds, keeping this coveted record in the USA.

  1. Brave souls but I have other things to do with my time! Thats just crazy though 87 lbs of bees, how do they get them to stick and do they smoke them to keep them calm?
