Dogs in handbags have always been ridiculous in my view. Now the trend has gone from bad to worse as the departure of a British Airways flight from Tel Aviv was delayed when, shortly after boarding, a woman was discovered to be smuggling a Yorkshire Terrier in her handbag.

A fellow passenger grew suspicious when the hand luggage beneath the woman’s seat began to squeak, which is when the dog was discovered. What’s most baffling about the incident is that the woman had passed through all of the required security and immigration checks at Ben Gurion airport, which is well-known for its stringent security screening.
