This summer was clearly a scorcher for the majority of the United States. Some areas saw foliage dying and threatened by the intense heat, with an early preview of Autumn’s falling leaves. Now with September approaching, the leaves will keep falling and changing, and for avid leaf spotters, a number of iPhone apps will make the season more enjoyable.

TreeID and LeafSnap are both free apps for identifying species of trees. Botany Buddy will run you $9.99 but gives in-depth information on shrubs, trees, gardening, and provides an array of photos. Find the app that suits your leaf spotting preference at Huffington Post.
