Hotel Scammer Foiled By His Own Dirty Laundry

A scam artist who ripped off hotels throughout Britain was finally caught when police collected DNA evidence from a dirty piece of clothing he left behind.

Alexander Hewitt would stay at small guesthouses and bed and breakfasts, then sneak out without paying. Hewitt would deter suspicion long enough to escape by leaving clothing in the room. But apparently Hewitt’s mother never schooled him on the importance of always leaving clean clothes at the scene of your crimes.

Hewitt admitted four charges of nonpayment and two charges of stealing hotel keys and was sentenced to six months behind bars in Wales.
