Jordan to Build Star Trek Theme Park

Lawrence of Arabia, meet Captain Kirk: the Jordanian coastal city of Aqaba has plans to build a $1 billion Star Trek theme park by 2014.
The 184-acre Star-Trek themed entertainment resort, The Red Sea Astrarium (TRSA) is due to be built by 2014 in the Red Sea port city of Aqaba in southern Jordan.
It’s not as random as it seems, though. The current King of Jordan, Abdullah II, is an avid Trekkie and even scored a 7-second bit part in an episode (he’s the one in the green that walks off):
