Knee Defender does exactly what it says:

It helps you defend the space you need when confronted by a faceless, determined seat recliner who doesn’t care how long your legs are or about anything else that might be “back there”.

I’m a fairly average sized guy – around 5’6″ or so (5’8″ in heels). So reclining airline seats have never been enough of a problem for me to warrant searching out a dedicated product to solve it. But, I suppose if you’re, say, the starting center for the Celtics or just a tall fella in general, perhaps you might like something like this.

The site specifically states that you’re not running afoul of any FAA regulations by using these. However, I’m sure the airlines are well within their rights to demand that you remove them from your “space” if you’re found out.

  1. This is really antisocial. The person in front of you paid for a reclining seat, and you are infringing upon their rights to comfortably enjoy the seat that they paid for by using a device like this.

    While I sympathize with the “oversized” customers, tall and wide alike, the solution to your space challenges is not to annoy those around you by demanding the space that they paid for, but to buy a seat in business or first class.
