Lady Mary and Ronald Weasly Want Brits to Have a Staycation

“No passport, no jabs, no visas, no euros.” A new star-studded VisitBritain campaign is urging Britons to skip going abroad and instead opt for a holiday at home in 2012.

Dame Judi Dench asserts that “Woodsworth didn’t wander into the nearest taverna, no he wandered lowly as a cloud right here, in the lakes!”

Michelle Dockery (aka Lady Mary of Downtown Abbey) dons various period costumes to inform her audience, “people have been coming to visit the Giants Causeway for centuries, hardly surprising really as you won’t find rocks like these on a beach in the Med.”

And as Rupert Grint (of Harry Potter fame) floats by the ruins of Kilchurn Castle in Scotland, he wonders, “who’d bother crossing the channel when you can come here to Loch Awe… reminds me of somewhere.”

And if those star studded endorsements don’t convince everyone in the UK to plan their next “staycation” than maybe Stephen Fry laughing at them while they fumble around for their passports at 4:15 in the morning might…
