A team of archaeologists recently found an ancient city in the Yucatan region of Mexico. The city was part of the Mayan Empire. “Chactun”, the archaeology team’s name for the city, is believed to have been one of the largest cities in the Yucatan from 600 to 900 A.D.

The discovery site stretches over 54 acres and was first spotted by the team in a series of aerial photographs. The team spent three weeks cutting through the jungle and examining the site firsthand.
