Hotel Everland - Mobile Hotel

Is that a plane? A Martian spaceship? No, it’s Hotel Everland!

A Swiss artist duo, known for their artwork that invites viewer participation has created a mobile one room hotel. The room includes a bed, lounge and bathroom and can be hoisted onto any surface. Right now, it sits on the rooftop of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris with a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower. It will stay in Paris through the end of 2008.

Travelers looking to book a room can look forward to a fully stocked mini bar and breakfast service right to the door. There’s more than one touch of tongue in cheek humor – the golden embroidered towels come with a request to filch them.

Bookings are for one night only, although curious visitors can sneak a peek during the day. Seems the lure of living in a single portable room perched hundreds of feet above the ground is quite strong – Hotel Everland is booked through the end of December.

How on earth do you get into your room? I guess it’s not a good one for sleepwalkers :-)

Always the pragmatic one, you are!

I didn’t even think of that. I’m assuming an old, stone structure like that probably doesn’t have roof access, so that’s a really good question.

Perhaps a little duct tape would keep sleepwalkers in place?

Who’s pragmatic? You’re the duct tape king! That’s a perfect solution. (Can you also use duct tape on your partner if they snore?)

I think that may be misconstrued as “assault” here in the States. =P
