NYLO Hotel Offers Swank, Lofty Digs Near Providence, Rhode Island

My quaint home state of Rhode Island is small – really small. It’s officially “the smallest state in the Union” and it certainly feels every bit that way. Everything hot and happenin’ in RI occurs in one of two distinct areas of the state: Providence (the capital city) or … somewhere else.

So I was pleasantly surprised to hear about NYLO Hotels‘ swank New York-style loft accommodations in the typically ho-hum city of Warwick – just outside the capital.

The Skinny

NYLO describes its own Providence/Warwick property thusly:

Chic. Edgy. Avant-garde. The new NYLO Providence/Warwick hotel pairs ultramodern hip with the convenient necessities of traditional business hotels. The boutique NYLO Providence/Warwick hotel overlooks the Pawtuxet River and is located near Providence, Rhode Island corporate campuses and business parks, and just three miles from TF Green Airport. Distinctive urban design, affordable rates, unexpected extras, free airport shuttle transportation, a modern gym with his/hers saunas, and close proximity to Providence attractions are just a few NYLO distinctions.

My initial reaction to which was, “Huh? Really?!? … Wait, in Warwick?” And I wasn’t alone. Every person I mentioned it to (1) was shocked to hear about such a place in RI and (2) even more shocked that such a place existed in Warwick.

In Detail

Location

The NYLO is located along the Pawtuxet River, cleverly angled away from the hustle of nearby Route 5 to provide the perfect illusion that we were somewhere else.

Nearby points of interest include: Warwick Mall (less than a minute by car) and a variety of other shopping opportunities, TF Green Airport (5-10 minutes) and downtown Providence (10 minutes). A shuttle is available to all hotel guests, to provide transportation to just about anywhere you want to go within a 15 minute radius.

Amenities

Our suite offered a variety of amenities, including: complimentary Wi-Fi (finally, a hotel gets it right!), two large flat-screen TVs, more than enough space for two (I’ve stayed in decent hotel rooms that were only half the size), spacious rain shower, ubiquitous ultra modern decor, and a great river view.

The Loft restaurant on the first floor offers creative dining all day.

Staff & Service

Every staffer we met at the NYLO – chambermaids, bartenders, reception and room service – was polite, professional and friendly. At times, it seems they went out of their way to greet us with a smile and a “Good morning!”, etc.

The Loft Restaurant

A night of top-notch dining in Rhode Island typically involves a drive to downtown Providence. Fancy fare outside the capital city is few and far between.

The Loft at NYLO is a rare exception: unique culinary combinations and a friendly staff all served in a hip, ultra-modern, waterfront space make for a rather delightful surprise. Full-blown dinner for four – appetizers, entrees, desserts and plenty of libations – all $200 sans tip. Beat that, Providence!

Pricing

Lofts from $100 / Suites from $250

Bottom Line

Similar accommodations in any large metropolitan U.S. area – Boston, NYC, Los Angeles – could easily command $500+ per night. Convenient location, first class amenities, excellent staff & service, and chic NYC-style decor at small city prices all make the NYLO Providence/Warwick a winner in our book. Recommended.
