For good or ill, the web fills just about any niche. Looking to commiserate with tri-lingual Polish cello players named Chuck living in downtown Denver, there’s likely a blog for you.

Curious about the state of Helsinki street fashion? Ditto - you’re in luck.

Hel-looks.com chronicles Helsinki street fashion by stopping downtown passers-by in the Finnish capital to photograph them and inquire a bit about their ensembles. Take this chap, Kimmo, for example:

Helsinki Street Fashion

… who notes:

I like my jacket because it’s appropriately ugly. It’s second hand. My mother found the bag from a second hand market and gave it to me.

It’s boring if nobody comments my clothes. Freakstyle street fashion blog from Sao Paolo and italodisco inspire me at the moment.

“Freakstyle” indeed. In America, such fashion is reminiscent of escaped mental patients. But kudos to Kimmo for having the moxy to step out in public dressed like that.

Not so. Just come visit Portland, OR and you’ll see many a hipster dressed in quite the same ’style’ as depicted here.

… and I would argue those “hipsters” are likely escaped mental patients as well. =P
