The pilot of a cropduster in Australia has to undergo testing for numerous viruses after he was struck in the face by a bat. Josh Liddle was flying just after dark when he encountered a cloud of bats and could not avoid them. One of the creatures broke through the windshield of the aircraft on impact.

Liddle suffered injuries to his face and chest, which were either caused by the bat or debris from the broken windshield. As a precaution, the pilot has undergone injections and immunizations to prevent rabies and other diseases that may have been carried by the unfortunate bat which Liddle said, “exploded” when it came through the plane’s front window.
