A humourous t-shirt induced fear among passengers of a recent Qantas flight to the point where cabin crew intervened. The passengers, apparently not well-versed in popular culture, were “intimidated” by the shirt worn by Wynand Mullins that references the movie The Princess Bride. The shirt depicted a Hello My Name Is sticker with a well-known quote from the movie, “Hello. My Name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”
Passengers complained to cabin crew who in turn asked Mullins to remove the shirt. He refused on the grounds that he had nothing else to wear, and the matter seems to have been dropped. It has yet to be explained how removal of a t-shirt could neutralize a potential threat.
