Rockettes Christen New York Themed Cruise Ship
by Steph Spencer | May, 2013
When you have a New-York-themed cruise ship to christen, whom do you choose as its Godmother? Well, it turns out Norwegian Breakaway has lots of leggy ladies watching over it. New York’s famous entertainers The Rockettes christened the ship on Wednesday with the added flourish of performing their signature kick line on deck, in addition to the traditional christening ceremony.
Norwegian Breakaway is one of the 10 largest cruise ships ever built and will be the largest one based out of New York City. Even though the ship sails to alluring destinations like Bermuda and Barbados, passengers may return feeling as though they never left New York. Norwegian appears to have included every imaginable nod to the Big Apple on the ship, from colourful touches such as the massive eye-catching Peter Max mural on the bow, to hot dog vendors, broadway shows, and an assortment of restaurants from NYC chef and restaurateur Geoffrey Zakarian.
