The Daily Mail is reporting that scrap metal thieves in Khabarovsk in Eastern Russia have made off with an entire bridge.
The theft was noticed by workers at a local heating plant for whom the bridge was their only route to work. Apparently, the thieves dismantled the 200 ton bridge which was made of four steel pipes covered with steel plates, in the dead of night. Management at the company says the value of reconstructing the bridge will be 20,000 pounds - at least ten times the value of the scrap metal.
