Shiny London Building Melts Jag with Sunbeams

It’s been threatened many a time in B-movies, but it turns out that the sun’s rays can actually be used to cause destruction on a large scale. Well, by large scale I mean larger than a handheld magnifying glass and ants on the sidewalk.

Archvillains everywhere will be interested to note that a Jaguar that was parked in London, England was ruined when sunlight that was reflected off a shiny skyscraper under construction and melted the car’s mirrors and panels. It is believed that the building’s unusual shape is to blame, causing the sunlight to be concentrated in that spot. A local business claims that their door mat suffered the same fate.
