Travel Blogger Creates Cartographic Holiday Greeting with His Bicycle [Video]

Sure, you could get out your antique letterpress or wield some scrapbooking tools and hand craft a dazzling holiday card, but travel blogger Erik Trinidad had a better idea. He wrote Happy Holidays on the map of New York City.

Trinidad created the greeting using his bicycle and a GPS cycling program. He calls it a virtual geoglyph and it entailed riding a bicycle in a pattern that spelled out the letters of the festive greeting and using a GPS program to record his movements.

  1. That’s pretty cool. Pulling this off probably took some careful planning. He did a great job. I saw a commercial with some guy that wrote his girlfriend a message like this on TV last night.
