Instead of these gimmicks and wives-tales, next time you’re traveling check out one of these places renowned for their luck. The Blarney Stone in County Cork, Ireland is an obvious choice.

But what about the Winged Figures of the Republic by the Hoover Dam in Nevada? The statues watch over the canyon and are rumored to impart luck to those who rub their toes. Now, remember that because of the height of the statues and the security guards that prevent visitors from climbing up on their laps, the toes are the only thing one can actually reach.

A slightly more macabre totem is Victor Noir’s Grave in Paris. Some kissing on the lips and then some rubbing of the trousers on the grave top statue of Noir, legend holds, will enhance fertility in willing ladies.
