TSA Declares: Lighters Now Good; Water Still Bad
by Mike Richard
To recap, via Upgrade: Travel Better:
The TSA has ruled that lighters will once again be legal to take onto airplanes, effective August 4.
Bottled water is still illegal, but a container containing a flammable liquid is permissible. That’s freedom, baby.
Mmkay. I’m not even sure how to comment anymore on the yo-yo policy changes the TSA have enacted over the past year. They’re starting to make my head hurt.

I can’t even think of a legitimate reason to have a lighter on a plane. Smoking isn’t allowed on most flights to, from or within Western countries … what would anyone want one for?
Surely smokers can wait until they have collected their checked luggage?

It’s beyond comprehension really. I stopped trying to apply logic to the TSA’s policies long ago. It hurts my head too much.
All I can picture is the terrorists slyly hiding in the bathroom with the old bowling ball style bomb with the lit wick on one end.
