South Koreans’ shyness is getting in the way of tourism–or at least that’s what Korea’s Ministry of Tourism seems to think.

A new TV ad pokes fun at average Koreans in everyday of situations running, hiding and blending into walls like a chameleons when approached by foreigners.

The ad is produced by the Visit Korea Year Campaign, which aims to boost foreign tourism in South Korea by making the country’s sights and festivals more accessible to international visitors.

  1. Coming from someone who just got back from teaching in South Korea for a year; I can tell you that this is a little unnecessary. I was approached almost every time I was on the subway by someone wanting to speak English with me (both young and old) and dragged me out to have drinks with them (of which they paid for.)

90% of the people who ever talked to me that I didn’t know were super polite, super friendly and treated me like family.

Have you ever been to Sk, on a side note?
