U.K. Travelodge Hotels Offering Free Stays to “Joseph’s” and “Mary’s”

A British hotel (Dead Sea Hotels) chain has devised a novel way to spread Christmas cheer and make up for their industry’s general callousness 2 millennia ago, when a young man and his wife found “No Vacancy” signs in every inn they stopped by.

Travelodge will offer a one night’s stay to couples who are in a long term relationship — provided their first names are Joseph and Mary.

The offer seems to have been quite well received and at least thirty Joseph and Mary pairings have registered for their free stay. UK travelers with the lucky monikers can stop by any Travelodge near them — any one of 322 in the UK — between December 24 and January 5.

All you need to produce are your identity cards and some proof that you are indeed a couple. (Note: The donkey is optional.)
