Woman Summits Everest Twice in a Week, Sets Record

Guinness has certified a new record for the most times Mount Everest has been scaled in a single season by a woman. Climber Chhurim Sherpa is the first woman ever to successfully reach the summit of the world’s highest peak twice in one season.
The Nepalese mountaineer accomplished this feat last spring, successfully reaching the summit on May 12th,2012, returning to base camp and then making another successful ascent a few days later. A ceremony was held in Kathmandu this week to recognize Sherpa’s accomplishment and present her with the official world record certificate.
