World’s Tallest Hotel Opens

The world’s tallest hotel is now open for business in — you guessed it — Dubai. The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai opened for business yesterday with a celebrity-studded soiree. Leona Lewis was the surprise headliner, performing for 1,200 VIP guests.

The Guinness Book of World Records has certified the property as the World’s Tallest Hotel, snatching the title away from one of its neighbours, the Rose Tower. The much taller Burj Khalifa, also in Dubai, is the world’s tallest manmade structure, however the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is the tallest structure entirely devoted to a hotel.
