Winter is the perfect time to explore spa culture and what better way to do so, than a newly opened Zürich spa that once housed a famous brewery? While the Japanese are known to take to mountain onsens filled with wine or sake, there are no traces of beer in the pools at the Thermalbad & Spa Zürich.

The spa was once the home of the Hürlimann Brewery. After 150 years of brewing and keeping the Swiss happy,  Hürlimann brewed its last beer in 1997. A group of investors bought the space, with hopes of turning it into a thermal bath, which was finally completed this year.

Additional photos and more information on the amazing architecture of the spa can be found here.
